How does Vinovest determine the price of wine, and why might prices differ from other websites?

We use a rigorous, data-driven process to determine the value of wine bottles in your portfolio. Our methodology focuses on investment-grade accuracy, ensuring your portfolio reflects the most realistic market price for your wines. Specifically, we value your wine at the lowest average of all asking prices for each specific vintage over the last 24 hours.

Here’s how we determine that number:

  1. We pull pricing information from thousands of sources, including secondary markets, private transactions, global auctions, and platforms like Wine Decider, Liv-ex, Winebourse, and Wineowners. In total, we use more than a billion price points to calculate our wine prices.
  2. The data is standardized for case size and bottle format to ensure consistency. Any extreme or anomalous data points are removed.
  3. The price is calculated based on these inputs. This process is repeated daily to keep valuations current and relevant.

Because our wine prices are updated daily and are calculated from thousands of data points on the secondary market, the prices in your portfolio represent a comprehensive and transparent valuation of your wine, and thus will not necessarily match prices on retail or other sites that may not reflect a vintage’s true resale value.
