# How does Vinovest determine the price of whiskey?

Our whiskey prices are updated annually after expert valuation. An independent third party examines the casks and makes a valuation based on comparable sales from whiskey exchanges and auction houses around the world. EUS Distilling handles our American whiskey valuations, while the Single Cask Company manages our Scotch valuations (both in tandem with third-party whiskey evaluation firms).

Factors such as the distillery, age, and cask type can have an impact on the value of whiskey, which is calculated per liter of pure alcohol (LA). For instance, an offer of $50 per LA for a cask with a capacity of 85LA would yield a valuation of $4,250 ($50 x 85).
